The Water
Life begins with water. Water is necessary. For most of us, water is common - just a faucet away. But for some, water is a daily challenge, even a hopeless search.
+ There are over 2 billion people in the world who don’t have access to daily clean drinking water.
+ Over 400,000 children die each year to water-related illnesses - that’s over 1,000 per day.
+ Globally, women and children spend a combined 150 million hours daily collecting water simply so they can survive. In the US, we each use an average of 80 gallons a day by turning on a faucet.
The Call
If anyone knows what it is to thirst, it’s Jesus. Jesus uttered, “I thirst.” from the cross. Jesus experienced our thirsting in both the physical and spiritual - that’s powerful. Maybe this is why Jesus said, “...I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink... I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!”
We believe water is a divine dignity God desires everyone to have. In a beautiful culmination, Jesus is also the living water He desires each of us to experience. It’s about more than clean water, it’s life. Jesus has called us to be an extension of who He is in our world. While Jesus was here on earth He showed us what that looks like. He brought people together, healed those who needed healing, spoke life into the lowly, and loved at a level we had never seen before. This is our identity as believers. Wine To Water is on a mission to be this with others.
The Approach
Gather At The Table.
We believe God is stirring up a generation of believers who desire to come together and change the world. Jesus has prepared a table for us. This table has no denomination or religious traditions - it’s simply His table. While no one is the same, we believe Jesus brings us together to love the world as He does. When we sit at the table together, God has a way of doing miraculous things we couldn't do on our own. WTW invites you to take a seat at the table. Together, we are delivering the gift of clean water and the hope of Jesus. Let’s pray together, be generous together, serve together - Jesus prayed, “That they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” - John 12:21
Pass The Cup.
When we gather together we are called to pass the cup. Jesus passed the cup to His disciples at the Last Supper and then called them to pass it on to others. It’s a wonderful rhythm of grace and generosity, salvation and serving. We want to be a movement that is passing the cup. The cup we pass is water. It’s both physical and spiritual, both life-giving and life-changing. Every cup we pass is wrapped in an invitation to come to the table.
Our passion is to serve the billions of people around the world who don’t have access to clean water, one cup at a time. Jesus said these words, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” - Mark 10:45
Share The Bread
We don’t pass the cup and leave. We pass the cup and lead. Wine To Water is committed to more than just clean water. Jesus said, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger...”. Bread represents the completeness of Jesus in our lives - it’s the truth that sustains us. We are committed to helping foster communities of growth. We do this by connecting local church partners in the US with on-the-ground churches in the regions we are serving. Together, we cultivate relationships, improve day-to-day infrastructure, and offer faith-focused growth. We desire to be more than a monthly support objective. This is believers actively being the hands and feet of Jesus - a movement of raw compassion and discipleship.
Our Heart
We believe Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He is living water. Our greatest desire is for others to know who Jesus is. We also know that without physical water, some will never get the opportunity to hear about Jesus. We need clean water to experience the very breath that can proclaim the name of Jesus - God created us that way. A source of water is a powerful thing. When Jesus shared news of living water with the Samaritan woman, He did it at a well of physical water. This is an illustration of our heart. Pass The Cup. Share The Bread.
